Summary
The Health & Safety Administrator / Officer is responsible for supporting and administering the company’s health and safety programs to ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations and company safety standards.
This role combines administrative coordination and operational safety oversight, including maintaining safety documentation, coordinating training, supporting incident investigations, and assisting with workplace inspections and safety initiatives.
The position works closely with management, supervisors, and employees to promote a safe and compliant work environment.
Main Responsibilities
Health & Safety Program Administration
- Maintain and organize health and safety documentation, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations and internal safety policies.
- Assist in developing and updating safety programs, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain safety manuals and safety management system documentation.
Incident Reporting and Investigation
- Assist in the investigation of workplace incidents, injuries, and near misses.
- Maintain incident records and track corrective actions.
- Support reporting requirements to WorkSafeBC when applicable.
- Follow up to ensure corrective measures are implemented.
Workplace Inspections and Audits
- Conduct regular workplace safety inspections.
- Identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Support safety audits and compliance reviews.
- Work with supervisors to ensure safe work practices are followed.
Safety Training and Employee Orientation
- Coordinate and track mandatory safety training programs.
- Maintain employee safety certification records (First Aid, WHMIS, equipment training, etc.).
- Deliver or support new employee safety orientations.
- Assist in organizing safety awareness programs.
Joint Health & Safety Committee Support
- Coordinate Joint Health & Safety Committee meetings.
- Prepare agendas, meeting minutes, and follow-up action items.
- Track completion of safety initiatives and recommendations.
Safety Data Tracking and Reporting
· Track safety metrics such as incidents, near misses, and training compliance.
· Prepare safety reports for management review.
· Maintain accurate safety statistics and records.
Safety Culture and Continuous Improvement
· Promote safety awareness across all departments.
· Support safety initiatives and continuous improvement programs.
· Assist supervisors and employees in resolving safety concerns.
Qualifications
- Diploma or certificate in Occupational Health & Safety or related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in health and safety administration or safety coordination in manufacturing industry
- Knowledge of WorkSafeBC regulations and safety compliance requirements
- Experience in manufacturing or industrial environments preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $75,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
